LED Christmas Lights Vs Incandescents

Jun 25,2021 / News, Industry News / Author: ShengKui

LED Christmas lights have become increasingly popular in homes around the United States over the past several decades. In particular, they have become a mainstay decorative feature for many homes during the holiday season. But what exactly is an LED Christmas light, and how does it differ from traditional string lights?

LED Christmas lights are comprised of individual bulbs encased in plastic or semi-rigid strands. Compared to standard incandescents, LED Christmas lights tend to be much longer lasting. Typically made out of plastic, standard incandescents are much more prone to breakage, increasing the likelihood of home fires occurring due to cracked strand wiring. LED light strands employ plastic, or epoxy lens caps, which are far less susceptible to breakage and also more fire resistant. These same characteristics also make LED Christmas lights much more energy efficient than their incandescent counterparts.

Another key distinction between traditional LED lights and their more modern competitors lies in the manner in which they produce their light. Traditional incandescents are generally wound with a filament that has been tapered to produce a steady stream of light. LEDs, on the other hand, utilize a different method of wound winding, which is known as "light after-image currents." Because of this, the actual amount of light produced by an individual LED bulb is greater than the amount produced by even the most efficient incandescents, leading to significant savings both in energy consumption and maintenance.

The final major difference between LED Christmas lights and their more traditional counterparts revolves around the manner in which they are used. LED bulbs are not tied to a plug and socket like traditional ones; instead, they are plugged into a separate power supply unit via a USB port. This change in method allows them to be more flexible when it comes to being used in both interior and exterior decoration. Traditional Christmas lights, by necessity, must remain within the confines of the home, whereas LEDs can be utilized in a wide variety of situations, such as exterior decorating, theme decorating, and even on vehicles. They are also very easy to install, which makes them perfect for those who are not familiar with electrical work or do not feel comfortable performing any kind of electrical work.

Another major advantage associated with the use of LED lights lies in the fact that they produce far better color accuracy than their incandescent counterparts. In addition to achieving excellent color accuracy, LEDs also produce much less heat when operated at their maximum output. This means that they can be used in a wide variety of circumstances where incandescents might not be a good choice, such as on top of Christmas trees and near outdoor water features. Additionally, white led Christmas lights tend to last longer than their incandescent counterparts. This means that they can provide the home with a brighter light for longer periods of time.

Finally, as compared to their incandescent counterparts, LED Christmas lights tend to cost significantly less. They are also more efficient, using only a fraction of the energy of traditional incandescents. If money is a major concern when purchasing decorations for the Christmas tree, then the switch to LED lights might be the right choice. The long life and lower energy usage make them an ideal choice for the Christmas tree this year.
